Dr. Heather Johnson
Owner, Veterinarian
Dr. Heather Johnson’s very first dog, a scruffy Labrador mix named Lucky, is the sole reason that she became a veterinarian. Seeing the best parts of herself reflected in Lucky’s eyes gave her an insight into the incredible power of the human-animal bond—Dr. Johnson vowed to protect and nurture those relationships for all pet owners. Now, she’s proud to own and operate Cedar Veterinary Clinic!
Dr. Johnson grew up in Cedar City and earned her Bachelor’s degree in biology from Southern Utah University in 2008. She attended Mississippi State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine to study veterinary care, graduating as a veterinarian in 2012, and then began practicing as an Associate Veterinarian in St. George, Utah. Five years later, Dr. Johnson decided to return to her hometown and pursue practice ownership—she purchased Cedar Veterinary Clinic in 2018 when the previous owner retired, and she hasn’t looked back since!
As a vet, Dr. Johnson enjoys challenging internal medicine cases, soft-tissue surgical work, and dentistry. Her favorite thing to do is educate pet parents and provide preventative health care; it’s very rewarding to keep a pet happy and healthy before any problems arise.
Away from the office, Dr. Johnson likes getting her hands dirty in her garden, fishing, and trapshooting—she’s even a member of the Utah State Women’s Trapshooting Team. Dr. Johnson and her husband, Carl, share their lives with two high-spirited Brittany Spaniels, Oakley and Birdie, who love to sniff out birds under bushes and run circles around their owners.
