Elliot
Veterinary Assistant
Growing up, Elliot found the topics of medicine and science fascinating. He also loved animals, which made a career in the veterinary industry seem like a natural fit. His journey began in high school, when he completed an internship before moving on to college to become a veterinary assistant.
Outside of work, Elliot likes to do art. His primary medium is pottery, for which he has participated in a conference and several shows. He also enjoys leather work and drawing.
Micah
Veterinary Assistant
Micah became interested in the veterinary field after she started raising and showing livestock animals. Whenever the vet was called out to their place, Micah would watch in awe and ask to help. While in high school, Micah was given a baby goat to care for who was very sick. With the support and guidance of the vet, Micah was able to nurse the goat back to health. The experience fueled an even deeper interest in veterinary medicine that would ultimately shape her career path.
After completing a high school internship, Micah attended college at SUU, where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in agriculture science. Following graduation, Micah took a brief hiatus to focus on her family and enjoy some quality time with her kids. In May of 2023, Micah decided to return to work and joined the Cedar Veterinary Clinic team. As a veterinary assistant, she enjoys learning new things and creating relationships with clients and their pets.
Outside of work, Micah has three children. The family also has a small herd of cows, some quail, and several chickens.
Lisa
Veterinary Assistant
When Lisa was in high school, her beloved horse became so seriously injured that she wasn’t sure if anything could be done. Fortunately, the family vet came out to the farm and was able to get him sutured up. It was at that life-changing moment that Lisa knew in her heart she wanted to someday work with animals!
After graduation, Lisa attended beauty school. It didn’t take long, however, for her to realize that her passion for pet care was still as strong as ever. That’s when she decided to officially shift her career focus. As a Receptionist at Cedar Veterinary Clinic, Lisa thrives on being able to help people and their animal companions each and every day.
Outside of the clinic, Lisa lives with her husband, Kenny, and their two children: Tallon, who is an avid hunter, and Josie, who loves to rodeo. Their ever-growing furry family consists of eight horses, two cats, two border collies and 10 hound dogs.
In her free time, Lisa enjoys many hobbies, including barrel racing on her Palomino, team roping with her husband, attending reining shows and tinkering with guns. And of course, she loves spending time with her family, whether it’s going to the hay farm or hunting in the mountains.
Maegan
Veterinary Assistant
Born in San Diego, Maegan’s family relocated to Cedar City when she was nine years old. From a very early age, she had a deep love and fascination for animals, especially the many dogs and rabbits she grew up with. As she got older, she helped care for her neighbors’ horses and farm animals. This hands-on experience confirmed for Maegan that working with animals was her calling in life.
Maegan joined the Cedar Veterinary Clinic in June of 2020 as a receptionist and worked her way up to assistant. She hopes to pursue additional formal education, including possibly attending veterinary school. Professionally, Maegan enjoys working with patients, educating clients, and working on interesting cases every day.
At home, Maegan has three dogs: Macy the chocolate lab, Emi the Great Dane, and Hanalei the Rhodesian Ridgeback. In addition to animals, Maegan’s other interests include fishing, training, and spending time with family. When she’s not busy at work, you can usually find Maegan outside playing fetch with the pups.
Melissa
Receptionist
Growing up in Tennessee, Melissa always had an interest in animals and the great outdoors. Unfortunately, her family wasn’t much into either of those things, so it wasn’t until she grew older that Melissa was able to pursue her personal interests and seek a career that she would truly love. At Cedar Veterinary Clinic, Melissa feels like she’s finally home!
Prior to entering the veterinary industry, Melissa worked at a dental clinic. Unhappy with the hours and unfulfilled by the work itself, Melissa vowed to find a better fit elsewhere. After her working interview here, she knew immediately it was the place for her. Professionally, Melissa loves getting to know the patients and learning new things every day.
Outside of work, Melissa is happily married to an avid outdoorsman named Nick, and has a daughter named Cayden. The family has two dogs: Cassie, a retired bird dog with a bum hip who enjoys naps on the couch, and an Airedale terrier who also enjoys naps but is in training to become a working dog. The family also raises rabbits, chickens, and quail. Melissa’s hobbies include hunting, exploring, and collecting rocks.
